Pace. Performance. Personal best.
On the KalkAlpenTrail we run the routes of the KalkAlpenMarsch — faster, more competitive, with electronic timing and official ranking.
The 52 km on fast hiking and forestry trails — an Ultra for experienced runners who want to experience nature and distance in harmony.
Technically fine, scenically intense. The shorter variant for trail running newcomers or as a fast scoring loop.
The route runs mostly on fast hiking and forest paths, well-runnable for trail runners. Still the character remains alpine: root passages, rocks and short technical sections require concentration and sure-footedness.
From the Stift Spital am Pyhrn the course leads via Windischgarsten, up the Wurbauerkogel and over the alpine pastures to the Hanslalm and on to the Hengstpass (km 24), where the Challenge distance ends.
The Ultra continues south over Gowilalm and Hofalm to the highest point at 1,386 metres. Via Rohrauerhaus and Bosruckhütte the descent leads back down to the finish at the Stift Spital am Pyhrn.
Elevation gain: 2,100 m on the Ultra distance (52 km), around 1,000 m on the Challenge distance (24 km). The course links scenic ridges with fast pasture sections.
Electronic timing at start, finish and defined checkpoints. A deposit is collected for the chip, refunded upon return.
Family, friends and fans can follow runners along the course in real time via the official event app.
Men and women, each in age classes. The top 3 of each class are honoured at the finish award ceremony.
Multiple course marshals, mobile rescue forces and mountain rescue in the background. Safety takes priority over best time.
The same courses, without timing. On the KalkAlpenMarsch mindful travelling takes centre stage. A nature experience instead Secondsjagd.
